The term Yoga is derived from the root 'Yuj' meaning union or integration, on spiritual plane it is the integration of individual will with the universal will, on physical and worldly plane it is the integration of mind, and body, for everyone of any profession, class, religion, nationality or age.

It is a scientific process of gradual development of quality of Mind through 8 (eight steps) to perceive the reality by developing the total human potentiality of man. These eight steps are 'Yama' or the rules of social behavior or Abstention from the vices. The second step is, 'Niyama' or the code of personal conduct or observance of virtues. Third step is in 'Asanes'or Postuers or exercises, fourth, 'Pranayama' or breath control or rhythmic breathing, 'Pratyahera', detachment or sense withdrawl, sixth is known as 'Dharna' or concentration, seventh is 'Dhyana' or meditation and lastly or eights is 'Samadhi' or contemplation or illumination. According to Yogic philosophy there is an astral body along with physical body and 'Yoga' helps to establish control on both of them and helps in their integration and evolution.

Yoga not only prevent and cure disease but imparts a 'Positive Health' i.e. increased energy and a real sense of well being, which other system of medicine are unable to give. There are about as many as 84,00,000 asana or postures mentionable in the classics of Yoga from them only 84 are selected for special mention and 32 are considered more important. Out of these 32 only 8-9 are considered most important and finally there are last 3 which are considered essential where are (1) Sarvang asana (Shoulder stand), (2) Pacshimotanasana (Posterior stretch Positive), (3) Shirshasana head stand.

One should first perfect the postures or master them, An asana can only be said to mastered or perfected when one can sit in that posture comfortably for a period of three hours and forty eight minutes at a stretch.

Therefore true 'Yogie Postues or practices require utmost precision and care for maximum benefits and for prevention of any harm, 'Yoga is both path and destination of this precious human life.
